How stories of design and sustainability form a podcast

I was introduced to Hattrick thanks to Sean Sankey one of the briliant lecturers I had the pleasure of learning from as part of Manchester’s Greater Connected course  which was impacted by the pandemic like so many things were, yet interesting opportunities still came out of it and one was getting to work with Marlin and Victoria at Hatrick producing a podcast for Johnson Tiles.

Called the Design RE:Source podcast it is an insightful podcast series for architects and designers exploring what it means to be resourceful in British design today. It features four guests from across the industry providing an entertaining and educational glimpse into their personal and unique experiences.

Ahead of production, we did an audit on the podcasts available in the design space and then went through a process of refining what the end goal of making it was, what the call to action would be, what it would be called, and how the artwork would look. It was meticulously planned.

Ahead of recording, there were lengthy conversations with the guests ahead of recording to ensure they were comfortable, some were more than happy in front of the mic, other not so. We went through the process of ordering mics to be couriered to each guest’s location to ensure the audio quality was consistent which was fun during 2021. The result was a number of fascinating conversations which were total learning opportunities for me as it’s a world I know nothing about. For my client, Hattrick, they were able to introduce their client Johnson Tiles to a new media to help spread their word and I was able to provide a fun experience for those involved with the recording which is what podcasting should be about.

Capturing insightful conversations to share with others. You can listen here
