How you share the world of Embryology in a podcast

In the time that I have been talking about fertility for The Fertility Podcast  I have been fortunate to learn more and more about the world of Embryology and the passion that embryologists have about their work. I’ve been fortunate to interview a number of them and ask challenging questions related to my personal life and the decisions my husband and I have made about our frozen embryos. So when I found the International IVF Initiative on twitter and sent them a message asking whether they had considered using audio to spread the word about what they did… imagine my delight when they came back and said, yes we would like to do that.

Little did I know what lay ahead, a world of unbelievable conversations from the most hard working people I’ve ever met. They work around the clock, around the globe and still share content like there’s no tomorrow.

The International IVF Initiative started during the pandemic as a way to keep the embryology community connected, engaged and ultimately ensure they didn’t lose heard as Covid saw fertility clinics around the world shut down. So a team of established embryologists starting sharing webinar content – as the world got used to doing everything on zoom and the popularity of the sessions quickly grew.

What we’ve done in 2022 with the launch of the I3 podcast, is to record what happens after the webinar sessions finish, as they guests all have virtual ‘after party’ and share more of their thoughts on the session itself, so as a consumer you can watch the video of the session and also hear what happened next.

Here’s a taster and during 2022 we’ve released 21 episodes including some conversations with legends such as Bob Edwards. We heard from embryologists in Ukraine doing their utmost to retrieve dewers from clinics that were threatened with bomb damage, we’ve heard about the reproductive rights of inmates, sustainability issues in clinics, and how AI is impacting the world of assisted reproduction.

Hopefully in 2023, there will be more legendary conversations shared, so if this has captured your attention, do go and have a listen and if you have a access to a group of people – for whom this idea of the ‘after party’ might work.. maybe a podcast is for you.
