Juggling a voiceover career

I’ve always done more than one thing and my voiceover work runs alongside my podcast work, which has been taking up a lot of my attention.

I’m going, to be honest here and confess my attention has been drifting, as I’ve spent a good amount of time trying to tick all the boxes of my podcast activity from social media to sponsorship to raising awareness of my message to get more listeners. It has meant I’ve neglected this website and my voiceover mission. I love going into my booth or visiting someone else’s, having a random chat about the TV or hearing about a new litter of puppies. I love getting the email to say the ad has aired and here’s the link to share ( see below one of my latest TV ads )

It’s a life of constant learning when it comes to voicing and I’ve learnt that unless I can give it my everything I’ll continue to be busy doing other work alongside my voiceover. I know from my peers that it is the people who dedicate every hour of their working day to their voiceover business who are making the leaps and strides forwards.

I’m not sure I can focus on just one thing though. When I’m doing my voicing work I am 100% committed to what I am doing, but all around the jobs are the other bits and bobs..

So I’ve been meditating now for nearly two months. I started with Oprah and Deepak for 21 days and am now a fully subscribed member of Headspace. That was my reward for getting through the 21 days.

I think my focus is improving. I know I’m getting gradually more organised with plans and schedules in place. I know that I’m building a team around me of virtual helpers who are taking on tasks I’ve been doing that are ridiculously time-consuming, freeing me up to do the things I love.

Like, chase you up for voiceover work so I can be in the booth talking about puppies! In the meantime, if you’d like to find out more about me, I’m trying to keep up to date on my Instagram
