Sharing this post from my friend @drclairekayecoaching who I’ve recently reconnected with.

Claire and I were at school together and our parents were also friends so we grew up together… but lost tough over the years until now.

Our work brought us together - women’s health work that we’ve both migrated into and Claire asked if I’d like to feature on her grid 🙌🙌🙌

She’d asked me to share a mantra that I used and this one is my go to..

Do you give up when things get tough?

Here’s what she shared on my behalf which seems fitting during #mentalhelathawarenessweek

Natalie says:

‘I can do hard things.’

I have been self-employed most of my working life. Firstly during my days in radio, then in my voiceover career and more recently hosting my own podcast and co-founding my company. It's not been easy. Despite being successful, it has come with stress, uncertainty and a feeling of ‘feast or famine’.

I’ve had to overcome this idea that I’d told myself that I was a ‘creative’ and not a ‘business’ person and with that I’ve worked on my self-belief and determination to keep on, keeping on. I’ve pushed myself to expand my knowledge in the entrepreneurial space and learn about business and how to grow a start-up. My mantra has helped silence the inner critic I also carried from school, where my creative spirit wasn’t nurtured as I wasn’t academic. I believe my approach is a big part of how I’ve managed to be my own boss for such a long time.

Hard things often feel overwhelming. Even when you believe in your goal it can be easy to be derailed when things get tough. Natalie’s diverse and impactful career is testament to the fact that self-belief is vital to achieve your aspirations. However, also remember that everyone wobbles and no one can do it alone. So channel your inner Natalie; believe in yourself, nourish your support system, celebrate your successes and be kind to yourself.
