What will life look like when it’s all back to normal?

With another three weeks in lockdown, are you feeling OK about it?

I am to be honest of course I miss my pals and my family but I want us to come out of this safely. I’ve been having more conversations with potential new clients, who are thinking they might have to create more eLearning content or change their current content as the social distancing requirements remain in place, which is all good for me!

But how do you feel about getting back to normal? Do you feel you’ve adapted well to what we are going through? It’s been more of the same for me as I work from home anyway, I’ve just had the addition of a five-year-old climbing all over me whilst I type or parading his latest fancy dress outfit into my booth as I’m about to record.

What do we actually need a voiceover for:

What has been interesting is who I’ve been speaking to about potential work, from my fertility work as well as my corporate pals are remembering their voiceover pal which is great as they are having conversations with work about needing more content recorded with voiceover and realising they know just who to call.

Yet, there are so many ways our voices are used which you may not realise and I wanted to give a shout out to this fab new podcast from fellow voiceover Elinor Hamilton called Tales from the Tannoy stories of the voices that make up our everyday life. Elinor and her late husband Phil are the voices of the London Underground and Elinor shares their story in the first episode which is all I’ve heard so far. It really captured my imagination and I can’t wait to hear the rest. I also wanted to give a shout out to The Voiceover Social  podcast made by my fab pals Leah Marks and Nicola Redman who share this monthly podcast giving an insight into the voiceover world as well as hosting meetups ( well they did when we could and they will when we can)

What will life look like when it’s all back to normal?

So, when we are allowed out again, what does your work situation look like… will you just go back to normal or are you convert now? Has it made you realise that working from home is actually OK, and totally possible? Will you take it up with your employer? I’m looking forward to having a street party with my neighbours as we’ve all been making friends whilst clapping for our carers. Plus, my immediate neighbour has a hot tub!  We’ve got a number of family celebrations that happened in lockdown which we need to enjoy and cancelled dinners out that I hope we get to have. Plus we’ve been creating a wish pot for the things we are looking forward to doing. We were trying to get a kitten for our son’s birthday and didn’t manage to find one pre-lockdown which is a shame as it would have been the perfect time.. but that will certainly be happening once we’re out.

Yes, we’ve got some work issues going on as Hubby lost his job but we have a roof over our heads and food on our table and a bloody good garden to mess around in and I know we have such a better appreciation for what we do have rather than what we don’t, but we have time to think and just be and we have ideas that are bubbling which is exciting. Plus I’m SO pleased I bought myself a new desk before this all happened and set it up in front of the window giving me a little bit of sanctuary rather than being at the dining room table when not in my booth.

One thing I do know though is somedays I don’t feel like this. I get a bit of cabin fever and want to be by the sea or in the hills but we will be able to do all that soon, so I’d say if you’re also feeling up and down ride the storm. This will pass and we will be OK. Plus we have time to lie in, go to be early, catch up on boxsets.. all those posts you see on socials about what to watch and add them to your growing list.. are you working through them?

Before I go… I have a date for my Netflix series which is coming out next month and as soon as I can say more I will.. but be sure to add me to your watch list when I can!!
